Sarah Lowe is graduate student in the San Jose State University CADRE Laboratory for New Media Art, graduating with an MFA in December 2008. Lowe holds a BFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University. Her professional experience includes a two-year apprenticeship at the Johnson Atelier Technical School for Sculpture in Mercerville New Jersey and extensive work in regional theater, building sets and properties for the California Shakespeare Theater and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Lowe’s thesis project, to be installed at San Jose State this year, is a large-scale chandelier that combines data-mapping processes with Baroque aesthetics to document the spread of the Black Plague through a population in London in 1665.
